And so it begins...
I decided to create this blog to document my first trip to the AQS quilt show in Paducah, Kentucky. One of my customers created a quilt based on the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" and entered it in the AQS show. This is a juried show, so not everyone's quilt is accepted, but Janice's was!
Back in January of 2006, three of my quilting friends invited me to go with them to Paducah, but since it's the week after the Machine Quilters Expo (which I always attend), I declined.
So about 2 weeks ago, I'm opening my mail and there's an envelope from my customer Janice. Inside is a "Semi-Finalist's Guide", name tag and contestant ribbon for the Paducah show! In looking over the info, I see that as a contestant I get free admission to the Awards Presentation, the Sneak Preview and show admission. Hmmmm, wonder if those three friends have room for one more....
So I e-mail my three quilting friends and sure enough, there's still room for me! We leave in less than a month, and it entails driving 21 hours straight each way, but I'm going to Paducah!!
Wish us luck that Janice gets a ribbon!
I'll document our trip from the starting point here in Maine to the quilt show to the return trip - hopefully it will be uneventful (with the exception of winning!).
Stay tuned...
